In Yorkville, we are proud to offer a superb music education to our students and your child is the next generation of Yorkville musicians!
This spring, all 4th Grade students will have the opportunity to choose their music class for next year. Each student is required to select either band, orchestra, choir or music appreciation. These classes are held every other day, during the school day, for 45 minutes as part of your child's schedule. Students will learn fundamental music skills such as new rhythms, notes, and musical symbols, all while having fun singing and playing instruments. Also, students in band, orchestra, and choir will participate in several performances throughout the year. For students in Band and Orchestra: In addition to the opportunities above, band and orchestra students will also have a once a week small group lessons on their instruments. While some families own their child's instrument, most families begin by renting. If you do not already own an instrument, we suggest renting first prior to buying. If you are interested in buying an instrument for your child, please contact your child's band or orchestra teacher first to ensure that it is a quality instrument. More information about instrument rental can be found here. |

"I am consistently amazing at the quality of the music concerts each and every time my child performs. It is incredible to see how far they come on their instruments in such short amount of time." -BBES Parent "I love seeing how much my child has opened up in just one year! It's wonderful to hear how much they progress throughout the year. I also love the sense of community that is built through an environment of kindness, support, and encouragement. Music is my child's favorite time of the day!" -ACES Parent "We love the Yorkville music program. My child struggled at first on their instrument, but her teacher was so passionate and helped her to find success! Keep up the great music making in Yorkville!" -GRES Parent |
